The JW Insights conference in London focused on growing digital video audiences, programmatic advertising, and how to make sense of today’s media landscape.
It was standing room only when JW Player hosted the first JW Insights event in London this year for clients and industry leaders. We gathered the leading digital media brands together with press and some of the biggest video advertising buyers to review 2019 and discuss the key trends we expect for video in 2020.
Ryan Beebe, SVP of Global Sales at JW Player talked to the trends he’s seeing in digital video and what they will mean for the industry in 2020. Video continues to see steady audience increases with the most successful publishers using technology like article matching to increase video views and deepen engagement on their sites. On the revenue side video ad revenue still sees double digit growth but individual media companies are seeing subscription revenues squeezed by increased competition for finite consumer spend.
This gives more opportunity for video ad monetisation for publishers. Co-founder of JW Player, Brian Rifkin talked to the most recent changes seen in the video advertising landscape in January following Google’s announcement that starts the ticking clock for the end of third party cookies in their current form within two years.
Brian then introduced Derek Wise and Mark Rogers from Oracle Data Cloud who presented the details on the new partnership with JW Player to offer contextually targeted video advertising options for digital media brands using the JW Player platform.
We concluded the event with a panel discussing this and other trends in video in 2020. Moderated by Director of Account Management, EMEA, Alaina Hall, George Hunt Head of Social, Native and Video (Commercial) at Immediate Media Co and Rachel Powney, Vice-President of Marketing at Dugout were joined on stage by Sandro del Grosso Head of Digital Partnerships & eCommerce at ESI Media and Emma Newman, EMEA CRO of PubMatic.
