What about MPEG-DASH in the JW Player SDK for iOS?

Apple does not support MPEG-DASH in iOS 8 and there is no indication that they plan to support it in future versions of iOS. However, there are some 3rd-party implementations that have been successful —for instance, a popular approach is to transmux MPEG-DASH to HLS in real-time.

JW Player believes that MPEG-DASH is the format of the future for adaptive video delivery, and we intend to support it in all of our products, including JW Player SDK for iOS. We are evaluating several solutions to provide our clients with the best MPEG-DASH experience. It’s too early to announce a release date for MPEG-DASH support in our iOS SDK, but we have a working prototype.
